The Dirty Little Secret To Writing A Great Headline
How often do you find yourself reading the headlines on the tabloids when you're standing in line at the supermarket or your local 7-Eleven?
Those headlines aren't just thrown together - they're written by pro copywriters. They're designed to get you to buy the magazine, and they work like crazy.
Sounds like something that might be a bit useful in our business, doesn't it?
Headlines aren't just those large-fonted attention grabbers at the top of the typical sales letter. They're also the titles of your blog posts, the titles of the articles you submit to article directories, even the subject lines on the emails you send your lists.
If you want to get some inspiration for great headlines, just pick up a few of the tabloids or other trashy magazines next time you're out shopping. You know you want to read them anyway, now you have an excuse!
Okay, the secret itself isn't really dirty. But how it can get that way is when you start using magazines like Cosmo for inspiration.
Go and check out Copyblogger's post about the Cosmo headline technique for some good examples.
