Do You Use Skype For Recording Interviews?

I use Skype for recording interviews, conferencing with friends spread around the world and calling into teleconferences all the time. It's a heck of a lot cheaper than most of the alternatives, but I've never been all that crazy about the quality of the calls.

I recently came across a post on Doug Kaye's Blogarithms website about how to record Skype interviews. It has a bunch of tweaks for improving the quality of your connection. I reconfigured Skype according to the recommendations and it made a HUGE difference.

The voice quality is as good as my landline telephone now for most calls - leaps and bounds better than the stock Skype configuration.

I also upgraded to their recommended headset - the Plantronics DSP-400 - and it also made a big difference over the Logitech headset I had been using.

If you use Skype, go check out the Blogarithms article on recording Skype interviews.
