Is Facebook A Waste Of Time?
If you follow the ebb and flow of socia networking for marketing, you may be noticing people starting to talk about Facebook being a waste of time, people are moving on from it, etc.
The same thing happened with MySpace when Facebook became the latest & greatest thing.
So is it true? Is Facebook losing its luster?
Tinu over at FreeTrafficTip.com wrote a post about this today that's well worth reading:
Blah Facebook - I Don't Have To Like You
I couldn't agree more with her analysis.
Like so many other things in this business, the "newness" of Facebook has worn off and people are starting to look for the next magic bullet. But of course, we all know that magic bullet doesn't exist. (If you haven't figured that out yet, do yourself a favor and just trust me…)
Bottom line? If you're using Facebook for marketing purposes, the one and only thing that you should use to decide whether it's still worth the effort is your ROI.
If your Facebook marketing efforts are making you an acceptable return on investment, keep doing it. Check it weekly, monthly or whatever you're comfortable with, and re-evaluate if necessary, but don't let the various pundits who talk about this stuff make your decision for you.
